Love in Twelfth Night free essay sample
ââ¬Å"The course of true love never did run smoothâ⬠is one of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s infamous quotes from one of his plays, namely, A Midsummer Nightââ¬â¢s Dream. It is a quote that remains timeless throughout the ages and is centered on the theme of love and it explores the hardships associated with being In ââ¬Ëtrue loveââ¬â¢. Such is the same in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s depiction and presentation of love in another play written by him, which will be the main focus, Twelfth Night. The quote addresses Shakespeareââ¬â¢s depiction of the theme of love especially in regards to the two main themes of loveââ¬âunrequited and true love. Additionally, he highlights minor types of love such as brotherly (love between siblings), friendly love (love between friends) and narcissistic love specifically the idea of being in love. In Twelfth Night, Shakespeare seems to promote the image of unrequited love throughout the play up until the resolution. The spectacle responsible for love being unrequited is disguise. The dilemma of viols love not being returned is not intentional or due to preference but is as a result of circumstance; that circumstance being disguise. It is Violaââ¬â¢s disguise as a male, taking on the appearance of a male (her own brother Sebastian), that make it difficult for Orsino to love her. She has manipulated her features so that her disposition is feigned and hence her true identity is withheld. This is the reason for which Orsino is unable to return her affection. Shakespeare uses this as an opportunity to depict love as not always ââ¬Ërunning smoothââ¬â¢ but having barriers. For Orsino is naturally fond of her, despite her masculine guise, as he shows his affection towards her; commenting on her/his appearance as having feminine like qualities. Evidence is also given of his fondness towards Cesario in Act 2 Scene 4 when Valentine, an attendant of Orsinoââ¬â¢s Court, remarks ââ¬Å"If the Duke continuesà these favors towards you Cesario, you are like to be much advanced; he hath known you but three days and already you are no strangerâ⬠and even Orsino himself states: ââ¬Å"I have unclasped to thee the book even of my secret soulâ⬠, but the fact that she is perceived as a male, it quashes any lingering thoughts. Hence, he directs his energy to Olivia, who passionately professes his love for. He does this with expressions such as ââ¬Å"O when mine eyes did see Olivia at first methought she purgââ¬â¢d the air of pestilence and that instant I turnââ¬â¢d into a hart and mine desires, like fell and cruel hounds ever since pursue meâ⬠. However, Olivia in a state of mourning and grievance over the death of her father and more recently her brother refuses to attend to matters concerning love. Later, when she is confronted by Cesario, who becomes the Dukes messenger, she seems not to be charmed by it refers to it as ââ¬Ëheresyââ¬â¢-false doctrine. She remarks, ââ¬Å"Oh I have read it ââ¬â it is heresyâ⬠and in another breathe she remarks ââ¬Å"Your lord does know my mind, I cannot love himâ⬠. At the second leg of the triangle is Olivia expressing her love for Cesario/Viola. In doing this, she send Malvolio, her steward, with tokens in the form of a ring and messages to declare her passion. Her words ââ¬Å"By maid hood, honour, truth, and everything I love thee so that, mauge all my pride, nor wilt nor reason, can my passion hideâ⬠summarizes her feelings and emotions towards Cesario/Viola. However, Cesario, in turn, being female and of the same gender, is not attracted to her and so the situation creates the foundation for unrequited love. Viola acknowledges the complication caused by her disguise and remarks ââ¬Å"Disguise, I see thou art a wickednessâ⬠. Viola recognizes the predicament caused by her own actions and remarks subsequently ââ¬Å"I am man, my state is desperate for my masterââ¬â¢s love, as I am woman (now alas the day! ) what thriftless signs poor Olivia breathe? â⬠. Thus highlighting disguise being the root of the unrequited love affair. It is through these scenarios that Shakespeare presents love as not always being returned; a realistic fact of love. It is through these characters in Twelfth Night that he airs his perception of love; the fact that complications can pose as great threats or hindrances in love being revealed and returned or the fact that no matter how much one (such as Viola) may love another (Orsino) the reality is the object of affection may never know how you are feeling, as depicted by the relations between Viola and Orsino. Or might not love you back, as in the case of Olivia and Orsino. Nevertheless, albeit, unrequited love is popular throughout the play, there is also true love surfacing. True love is a significant type of love present in Twelfth Night. Shakespeare uses the character, Viola, to depict his perception of love. In contrast to Olivia, who seems to have no difficulty transferring her affections from one love interest to another; thus signaling that her affections run ââ¬Ëskin deepââ¬â¢ and in contrast to Orsino, who is obsessed with Olivia and his sate of being in love, Viola is the only character who seems to be truly passionately in love as her love is directed to one person throughout the play. Her poignant plight, only serves to highlight, even more, the depth, strength and truth of her feelings and emotions toward Orsino when compared to the fickle passions of the other characters. Violas purity of love appears even more radiant when outlined against the others. With this, Shakespeare reveals the sincerity of love as opposed to the false and mistaken or self-indulgent lovesick passions. Viola, Shakespeare device, who he uses to depict truelove, summarizes the purity of her love with words directed to Orsino, describing herself and her love for him as ââ¬Å" prized in thought, and her love for him, she pined in thought, and with green and yellow melancholy, she sat like a patience in a monument, smiling at grief. Was this not love indeed? Here Shakespeare highlights and addresses the matter of hardships or adversities that ever so common with true love. He depicts it as not being ââ¬Ëa bed of rosesââ¬â¢ or smoothing running and joyous all the time but as something that requires patience, endurance and stick-to-itiveness before one can receive the reward of returned affection as in the end when the disguise ids removed and Orsino realizes his affection for viola. Shakespeare before revealing the optimistic side of love reveals true love as occasionally being painful (ââ¬Ësmiling at griefââ¬â¢) and heart aching, especially when the object of the affection is oblivious. Shakespeare not only concentrates on intimate love but illumines other types of love too. Brotherly love, a minor love theme, is also depicted in the play by which Shakespeare employs Sebastian and viola and even Olivia and her brother to highlight Brotherly love, a shift from the surreal intricacies of true love and the heartaches of unrequited love stories revealed in the play is quite a refreshing change. Shakespeare chooses to use the depiction of love to emphasize the love between siblings while alluding to the realities of siblings relationships, especiallyà feelings evoked after the loss of a sibling or the experiences of ââ¬Ëfindingââ¬â¢ a lost sibling. The relationship between Viola and Sebastian is pretty close. Shakespeare capitalized upon this, being the optimist he is, as it is the relationship that promulgates brotherly love. When Viola enters Scene 2 of Act 1 upon acknowledging her ââ¬Ëalmost escapeââ¬â¢ from death, her first thought is for her brother; he is still missing but Viola refuses to believe that his is indeed dead ââ¬â ââ¬Å"For in saying so, thereââ¬â¢s gold: mine own escape unfoldedth to my hope whereto thy speech serves the authority, the like of himâ⬠. It is this scene that Shakespeare introduces the fact that love between siblings never truly dies for amidst the odds of there being no sign of Sebastianââ¬â¢s survival of the shipwreck or presence on shore, Viola never truly concluded that he might be dead but resolves to having hope; hope that he is still alive. This is seen after the captainââ¬â¢s remarks, ââ¬Å"It is perchance that you yourself were savââ¬â¢dâ⬠to which Viola comments ââ¬Å"O my poor brother! And so perchance may he beâ⬠. Sebastian, similarly, expresses the same affection of love towards his sister, Speaking highly of her; ââ¬Å"Yet of many accounted beautiful, she bore a mind envy could not but call her fairâ⬠, realistically but sweetly lamenting on her ââ¬Ëdeathââ¬â¢, ââ¬Å"She has already drowned sir, with salt water, though I seem to drown her remembrance again with moreâ⬠. The ââ¬Ëwith moreââ¬â¢ mentioned her meaning tears. Shakespeare explores the realities of love between siblings and the pain endured associated with losing one. In contrast, Shakespeare in his depiction of brotherly love show the joys affiliated with ââ¬Ëfindingââ¬â¢ a loved one, such as when Viola is mistaken for Sebastian by Antonio, and is reassured that he lives by Antonio mistaking her for him. Her response, ââ¬Å"Methinks his words do such passion fly that he believes himself; so do not I! Prove true imagination, o prove true that I dear brother, be taken for you! â⬠reveals her hope and anticipation cohered with enthusiasm ââ¬Å"O prove true tempests are kind and salt waves fresh in loveâ⬠. The last Act, Act 5 and Scene 1, portrays the action of the two rejoicing; the overwhelming joy and happiness accompanying the moment. Sebastian saying ââ¬Å" I should my tears let fall upon your cheeks and say ââ¬Ëtrice welcome, drowned Violaââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ disposing his feelings to his long lost sister which responds similarly. Olivia too reveals her love for her brother. She is seen ââ¬Ë watering her chamber once a day, with eye-offending brine; all to the season- a brotherââ¬â¢s dead love, which she keeps fresh and lasting in her remembranceââ¬â¢, thus illustrating the bond and love they shared, not wanting to forget him. She pines away over the loss of him and ceases to continue her life of normalcy. This brotherly love is also revealed in the Captainââ¬â¢s description of herââ¬âbeing, ââ¬Å"A virtuous maid, the daughter of a count that died some twelfthmonth since; then leaving her in the protection of his son, her brother, who shortly after also died; for whose dear love (they say) she hath abjurââ¬â¢d the company and sight of menâ⬠. In addition Shakespeare depicts friendly love. Love between friends is manifested in the characters Sebastian and Antonio. Here Shakespeare depicts this love as priceless and invaluable. He highlights some of the aspect characterizing friendly love such as self-sacrifice as when Antonio vouches to accompany Sebastian despite his bad history in the land and the risk of being imprisoned by the Duke or his servants as has ââ¬Ëenemies in Orsinoââ¬â¢s Courtââ¬â¢. Shakespeare also depicts the inseparability and selflessness ââ¬Å"Will you stay no longer? Nor will you not I that go with theeâ⬠and ââ¬Å"if you will not murder me for my love, let me be your servantâ⬠, as Antonio expresses not wanting to part company or experience the aches of separation. Even Sebastian expresses the same feelings after they are reunitedââ¬âââ¬Å"Antonio! O my dear Antonio, how the hours rackââ¬â¢d and torturââ¬â¢d me since I have left thee! â⬠Shakespeare also depicts the concern and consideration associated with friendly love, as when Antonio accompanies Sebastian out of fear that something might befall his friend, remarking to Sebastian ââ¬Å"Being swordless in these parts: which to a stranger unguided and unfriended, often prove rough and inhospitableâ⬠and continues, ââ¬Å"My willing love the rather by these arguments of fear set forth in your pursuitâ⬠. Shakespeare also depicts friendly love as embodying kindness. Such as the kindness shown to Sebastian when Antonio willingly gave him his purse; in the case that he wished to purchase ââ¬Ësome toyââ¬â¢ being it that he did not think that Sebastian had enough of his own money to do so. Also in the same gesture he offers to order them meals. Here Shakespeare not only depicts the intricacies of friendship but highlights aspects such as going beyond the ââ¬Ëcall of dutyââ¬â¢. The last type under the theme of love being explored is narcissistic love, specifically the idea of being in love, which is undoubtedly explored in Shakespeare character Orsino. Orsino, a powerful nobleman in the country of Illyria is one so lovesick for the beautiful lady Olivia that he becomes somewhat a vehicle that Shakespeare explores the absurdity of love. Orsino, being a supreme egotist, mopes around complaining how lovesick he is over Olivia. However, his actions clearly signify that he chiefly is in love with the idea of being in love and enjoys making a spectacle of himself. He claims to be buffeted by strong emotions but ultimately is seen to be self-indulgent and one who enjoys melodrama and self-involvement more than anything. Orsino pines away in ââ¬Ëloveââ¬â¢ for Olivia that he pities himself with words like, ââ¬Å"If music be the food of love, play on, give me excess of it, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken and so dieâ⬠. He is so consumed with self-indulgence rather than true love as instead of going personally in a humble manner to Olivia her sends messengers to ââ¬Ëwooââ¬â¢ her; to ââ¬Å"surprise her with discourseâ⬠than to express true feelings. He does so, in the aims that they will ââ¬Ëact his woesââ¬â¢ much to his gratification, one element that is obviously not associated with true love but with narcissistic love. It is through this spectacle that Shakespeare depicts the demented and delusional side of love. Shakespeare reveals love as being self gratifying and obsessive wearing away in melancholies and pining away in music thinking it would ââ¬Ërelieve passion muchââ¬â¢. Shakespeare depicts this side of love as impacting the individual in such that they show no interest in relating to the outside world preferring to lock themselves up with their sorrows and mope around their home. Shakespeare depicts it as insane and of being nothing but petty pride; it being they do it for reason regarding self and indulgence and of no real strong, genuine or sincere emotion. In closure, Shakespeare depicts the theme of love in Twelfth Night , as being technical having many sides to the various types of loves. First, he identifies the diversity among the general theme of love in such a manner that her presents both sides the optimistic perspective and the pessimistic side. He does so in an astounding manner uses the personality and actions of his characters to reveal it in the play. He, then, explored the realities of true love, unrequited love, and the features of love within friendship, the pains and joys associated with brotherly love and the fragmented illusion and absurdity of narcissistic love in its entirety.

Difference Between Anatomy and Physiology
Difference Between Anatomy and Physiology Anatomy and physiology are two related biology disciplines. Many college courses teach them together, so its easy to be confused about the difference between them. Simply put, anatomy is the study of the structure and identity of body parts, while physiology is the study of how these parts function and relate to one another. Anatomy is a branch of the field of morphology. Morphology encompasses the internal and outward appearance of an organism (e.g., is shape, size, pattern) as well as form and location of external and internal structures (e.g., bones and organs anatomy). A specialist in anatomy is called an anatomist. Anatomists gather information from living and deceased organisms, typically using dissection to master internal structure. The two branches of anatomy are macroscopic or gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. Gross anatomy focuses on the body as a whole and the identification and description of body parts large enough to be seen with the naked eye. Microscopic anatomy focuses on cellular structures, which may be observed using histology and various types of microscopy. Physiologists need to understand anatomy because the form and location of cells, tissues, and organs are related to function. In a combined course, anatomy tends to be covered first. If the courses are separate, anatomy may be a prerequisite for physiology. The study of physiology requires living specimens and tissues. While an anatomy lab is primarily concerned with dissection, a physiology lab may include experimentation to determine the reaction of cells or systems to change. There are many branches of physiology. For example, a physiologist may focus on the excretory system or the reproductive system. Anatomy and physiology work hand-in-hand. An x-ray technician might discover an unusual lump (change in gross anatomy), leading to a biopsy in which the tissue would be examined on a microscopic level for abnormalities (microscopic anatomy) or a test looking for a disease marker in the urine or blood (physiology). Studying Anatomy and Physiology College biology, pre-med, and pre-vet students often take a combined course called AP (Anatomy and Physiology). This anatomy portion of the course is typically comparative, where students examine homologous and analogous structures in a variety of organisms (e.g., fish, frog, shark, rat or cat). Increasingly, dissections are being replaced by interactive computer programs (virtual dissections). Physiology may be either comparative physiology or human physiology. In medical school, students progress to study human gross anatomy, which involves dissection of a cadaver. In addition to taking AP as a single course, its also possible to specialize in them. A typical anatomy degree program includes courses in embryology, gross anatomy, microanatomy, physiology, and neurobiology. Graduates with advanced degrees in anatomy may become researchers, healthcare educators, or continue their education to become medical doctors. Physiology degrees may be granted at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level. Typical courses may include cell biology, molecular biology, exercise physiology, and genetics. A bachelors degree in physiology can lead to entry-level research or placement in a hospital or insurance company. Advanced degrees may lead to careers in research, exercise physiology, or teaching. A degree in either anatomy or physiology is good preparation for studies in the fields of physical therapy, orthopedic medicine, or sports medicine.

Hospitality management - Essay Example Though I had passion in this field, I had to read and understand many facts about this academic discipline. From void literature to noteworthy complex materials, I embarked on a journey of seeking knowledge. I must admit that although I got varied interpretations, the messages were clear and interesting. Additionally, I must admit that I have been a thinker right through my course as a student of hospitality management. Nonetheless, I must say that through continuous class attendance and personal studies, my skills continue to increase tremendously. As compared to the past, I now know much more and this is something that inspires me most. My critical analysis skills have increased greatly, and undoubtedly, in everything I learn or do, I always ask myself ââ¬Å"whyâ⬠on very many instances. Although being only a first year student, I have learnt on how to challenge myself by digging deep into manuscripts where I will probably find the necessary details that will not only satisfy me, but also help me in my academic journey. Most importantly, I believe that through education and hard work, one can become successful in life (Annie, Howard & Mildred, 1996, p. 2). To start with, academic skills are a compilation of learning strategies, learning tendencies, and time supervision contrivances, which will enable a student to achieve his or her expectations in school or at college. Many students, me included, understand that learning entails many more things other than accessibility to information. For instance, our tutors always incorporate academic skills in their lessons to help us understand and master the necessary skills and concepts. In fact, these skills help us to tackle exams and tests, and additionally, they are imperative in the days ahead. As a college student, I have attended various workshops to nurture my academic skills. In my first workshop I attended barely

Life before new technology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Life before new technology - Essay Example In addition, the calls were not of the best quality meaning that by using landlines, phone calls had a higher chance of being dropped as compared to todayââ¬â¢s cell phones. This is because; the switching process between calls was a manual process, before the automation of the system. In addition, there was a higher likelihood of landline telephony infrastructure getting vandalized, making calling a nightmare. This is as opposed to todayââ¬â¢s telephony services, where calls are reliable and can be made without worries of dropping or getting disconnected. In addition, the calling rates were sky high considering the number of telephone service providers. Call providers were few and limited to certain geographic regions meaning that one only had limited choice in getting provider and, as a result, was at their mercy. With the emergence of the cell phone, calls are cheaper as compared to before their presence, with more service providers, and thus more choice due to competition br inging calling right to a cheap bargain (Goyal, 2002). This is, in addition to text messaging that, eases communication substantially without calling or consuming much time. Before the mobile phone people had to be confined in a given area to make, or even, receive a call. This made it highly inconvenient for both or all parties involved as one could not make or receive calls at their own time and at any place they wished, which made it very difficult to communicate because communication was opportunistic gamble that one had to make. With the cell phone, calls can be made at any place, and oneââ¬â¢s own convenient time. In addition, another issue was the intertwinement of business and personal issues, as calls at work were strictly business and could not involve personal issues as it led to unprofessional conduct. Due to lack of cell phones and the presence of landlines created professional images in accompanies and businesses. However, the presence of cell phones has come to bri dge the boundary between personal life and the work place. This is because; they create opportunities for integrating work and personal issues, as one has the same number for the two aspects (Wajcman et al, 2007). Communication, other than the use of landline phones to make calls, required one to write letters, telegrams, and telegraphs or even fax the information to other individuals. With this in mind, communication was a slow process taking up to weeks to reach the intended individual. This was especially so between friends who intended to keep in touch and relate with each other easily. The process of communication was tedious and inefficient considering that the letters did not always get to the intended individual at all, or in time. Social media, on the other hand, has eased communication by linking different people from a variety of divides and bringing them together (Mueller, 2011). In respect to this, information flows easily between interested parties and cuts on the requ ired to create and receive a response. Still, on flow of information, networking was a difficult thing to do as there was no single place to be in order to meet people with similar interests and goals, unless an individual met them by coincidence or created a local group of people who can easily meet if need be. However, social media has made that outdated by bringing numerous people and groups together. This is in order to share ideas and thoughts on different topics with increased ease. This is especially

Communication And Newspaper Essay Example for Free
Communication And Newspaper Essay Racism and sexism were a major part of the 1950s and 1960s, with very few newspapers or magazines being able to maintain neutrality in their printed word against such hate. The Watts riots of Los Angeles in the movie, Heat Wave, involved attacks of a bigoted police force against black individuals who had very little education, were living in poverty, with most of the people having no jobswith unemployment being higher here than anywhere else. Many of these individuals felt they were being prejudiced against, with only five of the actual 205 police officers involved in the riots being African-American. In the movie, the Los Angeles Times reporter was played by Robert Richardson, as white reporters were not allowed in the area, which was a reverse discrimination of the riot itself. The whole picture was about racism, poverty, desperation, and feelings of anxiety and striking out against the world with feelings ofà ââ¬Å"enough is enough.â⬠It also is about how someone in the lead role of a intolerant and racist police chief can influence whole neighborhoods of the African Americans, leading them to feelings of hopelessness and despair, eventually leading to the Watts riot which led to even more riots across the country as people began rebelling against their treatment. The movie Crash was also portrayed in Los Angeles, and also involves racism and prejudice. If possible, in a more dramatic way it regards how people interact with each other and how they develop a first impression based on race or statement, forming feelings of prejudice. It seems as if the movie is totally about relationships and different races of people, telling how we get all messed up inside and form wrong impressions about things that maybe later on we would never consider. The role of Officer Hanson in Crash psychologically seems to continue from the raging police in Heat Wave, yet here it shows that behind the scene of their abusive personality, it shows another side of racism in a different form of view, even though it brings up more violence and maybe other things causing it. It is a step-up in the picture of how discrimination, racism, and sexism develop in societies and within individuals. It is not always a black and white scene, but has many variables involved in it. In Crash, the viewpoint changed from the reporterââ¬â¢s view on how something can happen like a riot of minorities, or a car hi-jacking, as portrayed to the public or world to see how something can develop from the viewpoint of the stereotyped racesââ¬âeventually even seeing things from the viewpoint of the police and why they feel the way they do. The third way of thinking refers to the scene in the movie Come See The Paradise, almost as if completing the circle of prejudice and racism. The writer of Crash felt that intolerance was a collective problem that needed to be explored along with shared humanity, almost as a ââ¬Å"gang effect.â⬠In the movie Come See The Paradise, Jack McGurn is a union organizer in New York City that is parallel to the police in the other two movies in regard to status and position, but finds himself on the wrong side of the law, also similar to the car hi-jackers or the rioters in the previous two movies. Fleeing to Los Angeles, he becomes involved in the Asia-American world, which involves racist and sexist as the blacks or Japanese, but he is the one who is prejudiced against when he tries to marry Lily, an Asian-American woman, by her father. The state of California also is prejudiced by their relationship by refusing to marry them, which forces them to flee to Seattle where they can wed. Prior to the prejudice and rioting of the 50s and 60s, Civilian Exclusion Order No. 92â⬠became the forced removal of all Japanese and Japanese-Americans from their homes into detention camps, with very few actually knowing where they were going or why. After WWII was over, and the Japanese Internment was actually admitting to as a wrongââ¬âdoing by the United States, the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 was passed to make sure that the Japanese Americans were repaid for being locked up like criminals, during a time when prejudice and fear took away the rights of our citizens because they were of another nationality involved in a wrong-doing. This was a time when citizens of the United States lost their rights because of who their race was against the power of the United States. They literally had to stand in-line to toilet, to eat, were told when to go to bed, etc.ââ¬âmeanwhile losing their homes, jobs and many family members. Needless to say, their dignity and pride were torn away because they were Japanese, not because of what they did wrong. Similar to the African-American racist riots in the 1960s, with many of the blacks forced into jail and torn away from their homes because they were black, the Japanese were treated just as bad. The African-Americans targeted were jobless, homeless, and drifting throughout lifeââ¬âwhich were automatic red flags for white police to pick them up. During the Japanese Internment, just being Japanese was an automatic red flag to be put in detention camps during WWII. With about 120,000 of these Japanese-Americans being forced into the camps, it was held in little regard that 2/3 of them were actually American citizens, and had rights under our Constitution, even though they were a minority group. They simply were unlucky enough to be Japanese during a time when the bombing of Pearl Harbor occurred, and they became the focus of the United Stateââ¬â¢s hate and prejudice. Living in the camps for three years under armed guards, this became a shameful period for our country when we had the audacity to treat our own people this way when they had done nothing wrong other than become a victimized race.à At one time, the Constitution of the United States actually protected the rights of our citizens, but the perfect union was not perfect during this WWII period or even later on, as the minority groups became a separate entity during the WWII as opposed to being a citizen of respect, as did the African-Americans during a later period, and is to this day. In my opinion, the similarity of the Japanese Internment period and the rioting of the 50s and 60s have changed very little, with one group locked up in detention camps and the other in prison. Both groups are imprisoned more due to race and color, by ignorant and bigoted individuals of authority who choose to separate themselves from their victims as beings of superiority. Very few looked at their victims and ask, ââ¬Å"what kind of life did they lead before this moment, and what led to this?â⬠and ââ¬Å"do they consider themselves as criminals and doing wrong, because they were born Japanese or Black?â⬠à And did any of the answers justify the actions of their jailers? Race and racism is part of the United States and has very little to do with ethics or morality of the human race. Do we have room for a neighbor of another nationality? Noââ¬âat the present time due to 9/11 the same thing is happening. How many people who are of the same race as the terrorist groups, are being punished by the United States and its citizen, being questioned in detention camps year after year, and with torturous techniques labeled as acceptable by our President? How different is this from the Japanese Internment period, or the locking up and beating of the African-American people simply because they were overly populated, living in extreme poverty, or uneducated? It is notâ⬠¦and we repeat history again and again, never learning compassion or empathy, which is why we are so popular with third world countries that are uneducated, poverty stricken, and over-populatedââ¬âand who we are 100% prejudiced against. à Bibilography There needs to be the information here of the newspaper coverage, ââ¬Å"the Readings,, of the Japanese-American Intemment during WW2 and the civil Rights movement of the late 1950`s,â⬠which I do not have.

Yersinia pestis â⬠Infection, Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment Essay
Yersinia pestis ââ¬â Gerneal Infection, Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment Yersinia pestis, the culprit behind the infamous Black Death, spread by rat fleas, has cast a shadow over human civilization, taken the lives of countless peasants and nobles alike like a violent brute who murders invariably. There are three major forms of infection stages, the bubonic plague, the septicemic plague, and the pneumonic plague (primary and secondary), all are lethal if not treated with proper antibiotics. Due to similar symptoms, clinical diagnosis, the distinction between a common cold and a lethal infection is made difficult. However, though a potent murderer, Yersinia pestis can be easily eliminated by antibiotic treatment; survivors of the disease may be scarred. The plague has always been a shadow overcastting the dawn of mankind; it had hid in the darkness, where the rodents roam and the poor dwell; it had unleashed its terror upon, claiming the souls of nobles and peasants alike. There are a total of five major plague outbreaks, including the infamous Black Death of medieval Europe, which wiped away half of its population. Yersinia pestis, the culprit behind the Black Death, are Gram-negative bacteria that are septicemic and extremely infectious. Though humans are highly susceptible to the microorganism, its main hosts are rodent species such as rats and squirrels, and are only transmitted onto humans when infectious fleas regurgitates animal blood while feeding on us. Yersinia pestis infection comes in three forms: bubonic, septicemic, and pneumonic; the pneumonic plague is the deadliest. My Future Education Essay
My life is different right now than when I was a high school student because now Iââ¬â¢m preparing to study so I can get a degree and before I was just studying so that I could graduate from high school. My work in college is really important because it decides how my future is going to be. As a college student, Iââ¬â¢m more responsible than I was before because now I take my work more seriously and that depends if I graduate or not. Like many people, I have educational goals in life. Some are more important than others. One of them was to graduate from high school and thatââ¬â¢s what I did last year. Another educational goal is to graduate from college, then go to Sac State and study for my chosen career midwifery. An education matters to me because the level of education I have will have a great impact on the options I will have later on in life the more options, the better jobs I can get. Paul Logan and I have concluded that education matters because we have more opportunities to obtain so we can have a better future. In essay ââ¬Å"Zeroâ⬠by Paul Logan he says ââ¬Å"They shoved and threatened me on the bus, teased me in the halls, and mocked me during lunchtime. NERD. GEEK. LOSER. These insults were fired at me like bullets. Sometimes they came with fists I got scaredâ⬠. His fears of being bothered by their classmates changed him from being a responsible, and intelligent child to someone who does not care if he gets good grades and is a good student. He changed to be this so his classmates did not bother him more and saw that he was like them and not a nerd as they used to say call him. ââ¬Å"Years of putting social time and my job ahead of school left me without study habits to deal with college work. Years of following others left me unequipped to make smart choices about my education. In addition to lacking skills, I also lacked motivation,â⬠Loga n comments. Logan made bad choices that ultimately affected him in his education because his skills, and motivation were lacking. The way in which Logan overcame his challenges was by deciding to go back to college. He made this decision because he saw his old friends continue studying while he worked. So with the money he had saved for the months he worked he pay his classes and had the opportunity to continue studying in college. As I was reading Loganââ¬â¢s essay, I felt sorry for him because he had to change hisà appearance of a good boy that cares about his education to someone that thinks education doesnââ¬â¢t matter in life. He also had to change his thoughts about school, just because he wanted to fit in with others, and because he didnââ¬â¢t want them to reject him or make fun of him. But at the end, I was happy because he realized the mistakes he did by not putting attention on his education and he decided to go back to college so he could have a better job and a better educ ation. Like Logan, going to college was a great opportunity to for my education but also I had to face several challenges, like turning my work on time. This happens because sometimes I have difficulty managing my time because I have never been in control of my own schedule. In this semester the classes I found easy are Sign Language, Math, Business Computer Apps and English. The class that I found a little bit hard is Psychology because there are words that I donââ¬â¢t know and sometimes are difficult for me to learn them. Sometimes I have so much homework to do or I get distracted too easy by any sound that people made or at home when my siblings are yelling and thatââ¬â¢s how I lose my time. Stress is another challenge that Iââ¬â¢m facing at college because I get stressed out so quickly when I donââ¬â¢t understand something or when I get a lot of homework and I feel that I canââ¬â¢t do it. So I just give up and donââ¬â¢t do it until I get relax and ask for help. Also when Iââ¬â¢m really stress and I donââ¬â¢t know what to do to solve it I start crying, get mad with others or I just go to my room lay down on my bed listen music until I calm down. Techniques Iââ¬â¢m learning that helps me to succeed in college are that when I need help on my homework or something I donââ¬â¢t understand about my classes I have to speak up and ask for help. I can meet my teachers and ask them to help me on what I donââ¬â¢t understand. I have met with my Psychology teacher and she has help me on what I donââ¬â¢t understand. There are also tutors that can help me on my homework and classes, them like teachers are there to help me on any questions I have. My teacher and tutors have help me a lot because now I understand more the class and when I need help I go with them so they can help me. To succeed I also have to study hard, pass all my classes and have good grades if I want to go to Sac State. My parents made it possible to succeed as a college student because they brought me to this country from Mexico so I could have better opportunities in my education. They have worked hard so I can study and have a better education than they had. Both of my parents just graduated from high school and that was the last education they received. My parents always tell me that I have to study so I can have a great education, job and future. They donââ¬â¢t want me to suffer what they did like on founding jobs or on not having a good education. Thatââ¬â¢s why my parents inspired me to keep studying. They were my inspiration to keep studying and Iââ¬â¢m going to make them be proud of me, so they can see that they educated me right and that all they did so I could have a better education. I want to show my family from Mexico that coming to USA to study wasnââ¬â¢t a waste of time, but a big opportunity to have a better education. Before I came to USA they use to say to me that coming to USA wasnââ¬â¢t a good idea because they thought that I wouldnââ¬â¢t be able to adapt to a new country, and language. They also thought that later in my life in this country, I would get married and work in the fields, but I want show them that they were wrong on what they said. While Iââ¬â¢m in college, I would like to achieve passing my classes, graduating, and to improving my English skills. I would like to improve on my grammar and on writing essays because these two things are my weakness in English. My goals for the next few years is to transfer to Sac State so I could keep studying and graduate as a midwife. Once Iââ¬â¢ve graduated from college and transfer to Sac State, I would like to move to an apartment so I could stay close to where I am studying or working. In the future, I see myself working in a hospital as a midwife helping women to give birth to their babies and enjoying it because that was my decision what I chose to my future. Some day in the future, I would like to have a family teach and give advices to my childrenââ¬â¢s about education and tell them that education can guarantee want you want for your future. By time I get old, I would like to be happy and proud of what I accomplish because my goal of keep studying and been a mi dwife. For me an education is like going to a new country and discovering moreà about its culture. Success to me is a continued process of hard work, intelligence, extraordinary skills, and my goals that I complete. Also successful is that which makes me complete without any dissatisfaction and watching the happy faces of my parents because they are proud of what Iââ¬â¢ve done. If I give a look back on my life, I hope I would have achieved putting more effort than I did before in learning English. I would do this because right I now that my English is a little bit bad and sometimes I have trouble in school and in my daily life because of it. I also would like to change on getting better grades because there was a time that my grades were so low and I wasnââ¬â¢t proud of it. I guess this happened because by that time everything was easy for me but now I know that was a great mistake. Education is important to me because it will have a great impact on later options Iââ¬â¢ll have later in life. Itââ¬â¢s important because Iââ¬â¢m going to be the first of my family to graduate from college and I want to make my parents proud of me because they work hard to give me a better education than the one they had. I want them to see that I got a good education that helped me achieve my goals and that Iââ¬â¢m someone with a great life and career.
